Dave Stevens, the creator of THE ROCKETEER and one of the best artists to ever grace the world of comics, died earlier this week at 53. He had been suffering from leukemia for some time.
We both grew up in the Portland Oregon area and I knew Dave way way back in my junior-high/high school days, bumping into him at various fan-functions. He was always a very sweet and kind-hearted guy, and incredibly talented from day one.
