Just got my comp copy of the book of the year, a full color collection of comics by the incredible (and long dead) Fletcher Hanks. Fifteen of the best F.H. masterpieces, all from the late 30's/early 40's, plus a comic strip "afterword" by compiler Paul Karasik that details the ultimate fate of the rather tragic (and nasty) Mr. Hanks. Best find is a black and white nature study by Hanks, which shows the guy might actually have had some tiny amount of talent.
If you're in the mood for some thoroughly surreal primitive comic book work, run, don't walk to the link and order you up some Fletcher Hanks goodness. You've got science fiction, jungle adventures, and a logging (!) thriller starring Big Red McLane. Find out why idiots like me and Paul K. killed themselves to collect every single Hanks tale, scanning them for this volume!
